Job Title: Data Scientist

Location: Nairobi or Lagos (This role does not offer relocation; you must be in area for this role however, role will be mostly remote with your ability to travel to project sites as needed)

Renewvia (https://www.renewvia.com/renewvia-energy-africa) is seeking a talented and motivated data scientist to join our team. The data scientist will play a crucial role in the development and operation of our Rural Microgrid Development and Operation Model. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions to improve our renewable energy projects across Africa.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement data-driven solutions to improve the efficiency, reliability, and performance of our renewable energy projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
• Build and maintain databases, particularly in MySQL, to support data collection, storage, and analysis.
• Develop data visualizations and dashboards using Microsoft PowerBI to communicate insights to project teams and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain web-based applications using JavaScript, particularly Node.JS, to support data collection, processing, and analysis.
• Conduct statistical analyses and modeling to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform project decision-making.
• Develop predictive models to forecast future energy production and consumption.
• Communicate findings and insights to technical and non-technical audiences through reports, presentations, and dashboards.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in data science, including database design, data analysis, and statistical modeling.
• Proficiency in MySQL for database design and management.
• Experience with Microsoft PowerBI for data visualization and dashboard development.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, particularly Node.JS, for web-based application development.
• Experience with statistical software such as R or Python.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in renewable energy or microgrid development is a plus.
