Job Title: Director of Operations

Location: Nairobi, Lagos, or Addis Ababa (This role does not offer relocation; you must be in area for this role however, role will be mostly remote with your ability to travel to project sites as needed)

Renewvia (https://www.renewvia.com/renewvia-energy-africa) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Operations to lead and manage our Rural Microgrid Development and Operation Model. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and implementing our business strategy, managing operations across multiple sites, and ensuring the successful delivery of renewable energy projects across Africa.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Renewvia’s business strategy for our Rural Microgrid Development and Operation Model.
• Ensure the successful delivery of renewable energy projects across Africa, from project planning to commissioning.
• Lead and manage a team of project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure successful project execution.
• Establish and maintain relationships with local partners, government entities, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and promote project success.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure project success and profitability.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring project performance metrics are met or exceeded.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure safe operations across all sites.
• Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure project quality and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure effective communication with stakeholders, including project sponsors, partners, and investors.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy or microgrid development, including managing operations across multiple sites.
• Strong understanding of the technical, commercial, and financial aspects of renewable energy projects.
• Experience in developing and implementing business strategies for renewable energy or microgrid companies.
• Proven track record of managing complex projects on time and within budget.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working with local partners, government entities, and other stakeholders in Africa.
• Ability to travel to remote project sites as needed.
