What will you do in this job?

Mentra is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to support our rapid growth and trajectory in several business-critical areas. You will wear many hats, collaborating with everyone on the Mentra team and strengthening the technical capabilities and stability of the platform.

At Mentra, we believe in bringing your authentic self to work. This applies to Mentra’s employees as much as it does to jobseekers on our platform. Whether that means turning video off, silencing Slack notifications, or flexing your working hours, we want to enable everyone to be able to do their best work. If you want to wear a suit or a t-shirt, play Geoguessr after work, or run with the cofounders in Charlotte, you can do that with Mentra!

If you require any accommodations during the interview process or once hired, we are here for you!

Salary range: $110,000 - $140,000 USD (annual) + competitive equity plan

How you will make an impact:

  • You’ll be one of the first engineering hires at Mentra, responsible for contributing to the success of our organization at a very early stage

  • Develop new functionality for Mentra’s frontend and backend services

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in design, business, operations, and data science

  • Working independently to develop features, functionality, and systems for Mentra’s services

  • Own projects with high complexity and ambiguity from start to finish, providing regular status updates and raising blockers or impediments to progress

  • Identify and triage bug reports from our operations team and customers

  • Report directly to the Chief Technology Officer

  • Be a close partner to the core Mentra team and provide feedback on product ideas, features, and developments

  • Work in a fast-paced environment to contribute to team culture & atmosphere, developing processes and procedures to improve and maintain team health and state of mind

  • Juggle multiple tasks and priorities, with immense growth potential and ability to drive impact

Who you are:

  • You must be a citizen of the USA or authorized to work in the USA

  • You have an interest, passion, or connection to neurodiversity

  • You have 4+ years working in a SaaS startup regularly delivering features, or equivalent experience building similar web applications

  • You have worked with technologies including React, Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma, GraphQL (Apollo Client and Apollo Server), Node.js, and Express

  • You are experienced with deploying, monitoring, and scaling services in a cloud computing environment

  • You can operate independently and tackle open-ended challenges with minimal guidance

  • You have a keen technical eye for process and infrastructure improvement, and are not afraid to challenge existing solutions

  • Reliability is important to you – You are experienced in writing unit & integration tests as part of feature development or bug bashing

  • You can collaborate with stakeholders during external engagements, internal research studies, and with non-technical partners

  • Coding is a fundamental part of this position. If the idea of rapidly innovating and tackling open-ended challenges describes your working style, you’ll be right at home!

  • This role will be a great fit if you’re excited by the prospect of working beyond a 9-to-5 to reinvent hiring from the ground up!

  • You’re resilient when building, rearchitecting, and rebuilding features as requirements change along with the business

  • You are prepared to travel up to 10%

Nice to have skills:

  • You have at least 1 or more years of experience using technologies including TypeGraphQL, Chakra UI, Twilio, and Cypress

  • Experience using monitoring tools including Sentry and Azure App Insights

  • Experience working with or developing SSO implementations including Okta or Auth0

  • You are experienced with deploying, monitoring, and scaling services with Azure (including but not limited to Azure App Services and Azure App Functions)
